RECIPE OF BEEF KARAHI: A FAMOUS TREAT

Beef karahi is a popular Pakistani dish known for its rich, spicy flavors. Here's a simple recipe for beef karahi:

Ingredients:

  • 500g beef (cut into small pieces)
  • 3 tomatoes (finely chopped)
  • 2 onions (thinly sliced)
  • 2-3 green chilies (sliced)
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic (minced)
  • 1-inch piece of ginger (julienned)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala

Salt to taste

Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)

Cooking oil

Instructions:

Prepare the Beef: Wash the beef pieces thoroughly and drain excess water. Pat dry with a paper towel.

Heat Oil: Heat oil in a karahi or a deep pan over medium heat.

Sauté Onions: Add sliced onions to the hot oil and sauté until they turn golden brown.

Add Spices: Add minced garlic, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, red chili flakes, and turmeric powder. Sauté for a minute until the spices release their aroma.

Add Beef: Add the beef pieces to the karahi and increase the heat to high. Stir-fry the beef until it changes color and is partially cooked.

Tomatoes and Green Chilies: Add chopped tomatoes and sliced green chilies to the karahi. Mix well.

Cover and Simmer: Cover the karahi with a lid and let the beef cook in its own juices for about 15-20 minutes, or until it becomes tender. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Check Seasoning: Once the beef is cooked, taste and adjust the seasoning. Add salt and garam masala according to your taste preferences.

Garnish and Serve: Garnish the beef karahi with julienned ginger and fresh coriander leaves. Serve hot with naan bread or steamed rice.

Enjoy your delicious beef karahi! Adjust the spice levels according to your taste, and feel free to add more green chilies if you prefer it spicier.
