It's made with wheat flour, ghee (clarified butter), and jaggery (unrefined sugar), giving it a rich, earthy sweetness. Here's a simple recipe to make Ladoo Pethi at home:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1/2 cup jaggery (grated or powdered)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • Chopped nuts like almonds, cashews (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

Prepare the Jaggery Syrup:

In a pan, add jaggery along with a little water (just enough to cover the jaggery).

Heat the mixture on low flame until the jaggery dissolves completely.

Strain the syrup to remove any impurities and set it aside.

Roast Wheat Flour:

Heat ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan or kadhai on low flame.

Add wheat flour to it and roast on low flame, stirring continuously to avoid burning.

Roast until the flour turns golden brown and you can smell a nutty aroma. This might take around 15-20 minutes.

Combine Flour and Jaggery Syrup:

Once the flour is roasted, slowly pour in the jaggery syrup while stirring continuously.

Keep stirring until the mixture thickens and starts leaving the sides of the pan.

Add cardamom powder and a pinch of salt, mix well.

Shape the Ladoos:

Let the mixture cool down slightly so you can handle it comfortably.

Take small portions of the mixture and roll them between your palms to form round ladoos. If the mixture is too hot to handle, grease your palms with ghee.

Press a chopped nut into the center of each ladoo for garnish (optional).

Serve or Store:

Once all the ladoos are shaped, let them cool completely before serving.

Store them in an airtight container at room temperature. They stay good for a few days.

Enjoy your homemade Laddo Pathe! It's a delightful treat with a perfect balance of sweetness and nuttiness.
